Basic Info
Name:nickebon
Bio
7. Invictus

OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley, 1849–1903 (thanks to [info]banzaigrrl for finding the poem)
This is an in character journal for Nicholas D. C. Ebon III, my character in the Requiem genre of the Camarilla Fan Club. It will take the form of various stories excerpted from his personal journals, pulp adventures, or the accounts of other characters. It has recently fallen into disuse, but I intend to keep it active for my own reference, as well as for the occasional historical piece I decide to post.

Mandatory Disclaimer: It is purely intended to be for the entertainment of players, and as such this entire journal is considered to be out of character for the purposes of the game - Nick doesn't sit around and post about his life in LiveJournal. Nothing in this journal is available in character - instead, it's completely out of character, but written from an in character perspective. It's like a television show - the audience gets to see what the bad guys are planning (OOC understanding of IC events), but the heroes have no clue (IC understanding of IC events). This is, for our chronicle, a digital "cut scene" so that players (and even a few people who don't play in the Camarilla LARP at all) can see some slices of life from my PC's perspective, or about my PC from other characters' perspectives. No one will see these snippets in character without some sort of Storyteller interaction, and even then they will be forwarded in formats outside of this LiveJournal (sent via email, printed up as a document, whatever).

As such, in order to keep the cheese down, this is a friends-only journal. If you want access, leave a comment on this entry, and I'll friend you as soon as I can. I might put some stories up in public view, depending on how sensitive they are. In case I haven't emphasized it enough, though, public view does not mean it's suddenly considered to be valid in character information.

Here's a brief bio on Nick - I'll try to keep it up to date as the concept evolves.
Current Name: Nicholas D. C. Ebon III
Covenant: Invictus
Age: Approximately 1500

A strong believer in the ideals of the Republic, Nicholas swaps between idealistic and hedonistic. In his idealistic phases, he believes that all vampires who have the training and ability to contribute to the city should do so for as long as they are able, and that the place of the Invictus covenant is to help lead the city. Of course, he's a realist, and knows that sometimes the burden weighs heavy on every vampire, and they may have to discharge their obligation for a time (as they fall into torpor, require to travel, train their childer, and the like), so as long as that kindred provides for his obligation and still contributes to the needs of the city as best as he is able, he is content. In his more hedonistic phases, when his idealism is crushed under the weight of the Danse Macabre, Nicholas is debaucherous. He is known for his strong ties to a number of well-known Daeva, but he manages to keep his vices out of his politics (although not out of the eye of Kindred society).

Nicholas is, as a result, the "weird Invictus elder" that actually believes in the ideals of the covenant, even when he's disgusted with the reality of the Danse Macabre. He encourages ambitious neonates to climb the political ladder, and is willing to turn against other elders who hold onto things they haven't earned. He's also been accused of being both a genial person and an arrogant prick, depending on the situation and the person he's talking to.

Character Concept Inspirations (in rough order):
* Vince McMahon (MR. McMahon to you!)
* Bruce Wayne (Batman Begins)
* Julius Caesar (HBO's Rome)
* The Doctor (Doctor Who)
If you have questions, let me know.
